Which meals do you recommend for people with Diabetes?Updated a year ago

Here at Dineamic we have a wide range of items that are suitable for those with Type 2 Diabetes.

Diabetes Australia recommends choosing a diet similar to those of the Australian Dietary Guidelines, paying special attention to the timing, amount of food and type of carbohydrate chosen. This specifically includes meals that are low GI (less than ~70), high in fibre (min 6g per serve) and low in saturated fats (max 5g per serve).

Key dietary recommendations to help manage Diabetes:

Eat regular meals spaced throughout the day

Ensures that blood glucose levels are regulated aka no spikes or dramatic drops.

Choose meals lower in saturated fat

Saturated fat is found in red meat, butter, cheese, cakes, biscuits and should be limited in EVERYONES diet. Consumption of too much of this type of fat can lead to diet- related medical conditions such as obesity and hypertension

There is GOOD fat which is known as unsaturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated. You can find this type in eggs, avocados, nuts and olive oil. This is great for everyone -especially people with diabetes as it’s great for heart-health and regulating blood glucose levels. For example, adding avocado to a serve of white rice will slow down and regulate blood glucose levels as opposed to just having the rice by itself.

Consider portion control when consuming high fibre carbohydrates

This is to ensure the absorption of sugar is slowed down as this helps regulate blood glucose levels. Sources of dietary fibre include wholegrains, vegetables, fruit, pulses such as chickpeas and lentils
